Kim Clijsters has arrived in Doha ahead of the year-ending WTA championships next week, ending doubts about whether she would take part in the event.

Clijsters is in Doha without her husband, Brian, and daughter, Jada, having earlier said she did not want her family to deal with jet lag during the fall season. It's "the first time in years," said Clijsters, "but I call them a few times a day."

Clijsters also said she has been able to train at full intensity for two weeks. The Belgian has been sidelined since winning the U.S. Open because of a foot infection that developed after an operation to remove a mole on the sole of the foot.

Clijsters won the year-end championships twice before her temporary retirement, lifting the title in Los Angeles in 2002 and 2003.
