After crushing Venus Williams for the Miami title to re-enter the top 10, Kim Clijsters says her goal isn’t to regain the top spot -- but she could see it happening.

Clijsters has no points to defend until August.

“I think if I do well at the tournaments that the No. 1 is maybe possible,” she said. “It's not that it's my main goal. I'm not in a situation where I feel that I just want to go to this tournament and that tournament to get more points. So if it would happen, that would be great. Obviously I feel that I'm hitting the ball really well. Maybe better than I ever had. But it's not that No. 1 is really a focus for me.”

Clijsters took a wild card into Marbella next week. The former Roland Garros finalist isn’t as confident on clay as she is on hardcourts, but is excited to see whether she can progress on dirt.

“I never thought I would say this, but I'm actually looking forward to the clay court season. It's a challenge,” she said. “It's always been the toughest surface for me to play on, especially because for me it feels very easy to move on hardcourts. It's just a matter of also switching my mindset and knowing that I've had good results there and I feel that I can hit a heavy ball on the clay and really put a lot of pressure on my opponents.”--M.C.
