Kim Clijsters and Vera Zvonareva will play the final of the U.S. Open after Clijsters battled past Venus Williams 4-6, 7-6(2), 6-4 and Zvonareva rolled Caroline Wozniacki 6-4, 6-3 in the semifinals.

After Williams secured the first set with some high-quality tennis, Clijsters led 5-2 in the second but then proceeded to let Williams back into the set.

In the tiebreak, however, it was Williams who gifted Clijsters two double faults on her first two service points and contributed other errors as the Belgian evened the match.

Bost players lost serve in the third before Clijsters captured a decisive break with a topspin lob winner that left Williams gesturing in frustration.

Top seed Wozniacki made an uncharacteristic 31 unforced errors while Zvonareva showed consistency and variety in completing a straight sets win. The sometimes temperamental Russian also remained focused despite breaking a string four times during the match, needing to temporarily play with an old one after running out of rackets.
