New Haven has not yet found a title sponsor to replace outgoing Pilot Pen. "We continue to pursue title sponsors and other partners to keep professional tennis in New Haven," said tournament director Anne Worcester in a statement.
SportsBusiness Journal reports that the ATP turned down a proposal to create a relief fund for struggling tournaments last month, which appears to mean that New Haven would have to sell or move if no sponsorship deal is reached.
The tournament had hoped to have one in place by the end of this month. "That window has been extended into October," said Worcester.
