NEW YORK (AP) Jimmy Connors and John McEnroe will renew their rivalry when they will square off for the first time in 10 years at a World Team Tennis match.

Connors will play for the Philadelphia Freedoms against McEnroe's New York Sportimes on July 14 at Randall's Island in Manhattan. The Sportimes say they also will play doubles.

Connors last played McEnroe on the ATP Tour in 1991. McEnroe leads the series 20-14.

Connors said there's always something special about playing John, especially in front of a New York crowd.'' McEnroe said theylove to put on a show.''

Ticket sales will benefit the Johnny Mac Tennis Project, which provides scholarships and coaching for area youth.

Connors will be playing his eighth season with World Team Tennis. His last was in 2001.
