?In an interview with El Pais, U.S. Davis Cup captain Jim Courier say he does not agree with the contention that the Spaniards are better all-around players than the Americans.

"I think our players could compete better on clay, but  that statement is not fair if we include grass in the debate," said Courier, who complimented the Spanish on being cerebral players. “I will be more clear: we greatly respect the versatility of the Spanish. Over the generations, they have lost their fear of competing on other surfaces and have become very good players on any surface."
