!90356126 Hey and welcome to Day 8 of the U.S. Open...I really need to come up with a new introduction (see my latest video with Pete -- and our archive in the Video menu -- to see what I mean). Full disclosure: yesterday's video recap wasn't our cleanest effort, but that's what can happen when you set up shop near the South Gate immediately preceding the evening session.
I'm just happy we haven't had to stop shooting because of some hyper, attention-seeking tike. In one episode of No Reservations, Anthony Bourdain's travel-food show, a kid yelled in a shot: "Are you Emeril?" Brought the house down. And that's why they have special edition DVDs and gag reels. It was a busy weekend in Queens. Saturday for its wave of upsets and lengthy schedule, and because of that, Sunday turned into a bear, too -- call it tennis' version of a hangover.
Also, it was my birthday yesterday. I used to celebrate my age on the first day of school (how cruel); these days, I celebrate it at the Open.I'm recovered; Pete is still in Manhattan, but he'll be arriving on-site soon. In the meantime, here's a Crisis Center post to discuss Monday's action. For Pete Bodo, I'm Ed McGrogan -- thanks for reading TENNIS.com.
