Darkness suspended two pivotal men’s matches on Friday between Grigor Dimitrov and Stan Wawrinka as well as Stefanos Tsitsipas and Filip Krajinovic. Luckily for everyone on court, the winners will face each other in the next round, so no one will receive the bonus advantage of an extra full days rest for their upcoming round of sixteen.

Dimitrov showed flashes of his old self against former champion Wawrinka. He played valiantly but was unable to convert when it mattered most, falling behind 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4) and delaying the inevitable for Saturday. The Swiss is looking to dispatch the Bulgarian at a Grand Slam for the third time in the last four majors.

On court Philippe Chatrier, Tsitsipas led Krajinovic by two sets (7-5, 6-3) and a break before jamming his leg in the dirt. He hobbled through the next few games, losing his early break advantage and quickly falling behind 2-5.

Tsitsipas requested to suspend play down 3-5 in the third, but was told to keep playing. Krajinovic didn't capitalize on sealing the set as the world No. 6 fought back to level the set at five games a piece before heading home for the day.

Both matches are scheduled to resume on Saturday.
