BOGOTA(AP) Defending champion Nuria Llagostera Vives of Spain lost in the second round of the Copa Colsanitas to Patricia Mayr of Austria 7-6 (8), 6-3 on Wednesday, leaving only three seeds alive in the clay tournament.

Fifth-seeded Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic lost to Edina Gallovits of Romania 6-3, 6-4 for the second time this year, while Masa Zec Peskiric of Slovenia defeated Petra Cetkovska of the Czech Republic 6-4, 6-3 a day after beat No. 1-seed Flavia Pennetta.

Mayr made fewer mistakes in ousting fourth-seeded Llagostera Vives to reach her second career quarterfinals. Mayr has yet to make the last four at a WTA Tour event. She reached the second round at the Australian Open last month to crack the top 100 for the first time.

In the quarterfinals, Mayr will play Ioana Raluca Olaru of Romania, a 6-4, 6-2 winner over Maret Ani of Estonia.

Zec Peskiric will appear in her first WTA quarterfinals against Gallovits.
