LONDON (AP)—Juan Martin del Potro will play at Queen’s Club in June, joining Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic at the Wimbledon warmup tournament.
The 22-year-old Argentine missed eight months of last season because of surgery on his right wrist but won last month’s Delray Beach International in Florida without dropping a set for his first title since capturing the 2009 U.S. Open.
Del Potro says he now wants success on grass, adding that “this year could be a chance for me to improve my game on grass at Queen’s and at Wimbledon.”
Ranked No. 4 in January 2010, Del Potro was out of action from after last year’s Australian Open until September.
His success at Indian Wells hoisted him from No. 90 to No. 51 in the ATP rankings.
