Juan Martin del Potro's physical condition is a slight concern going into his big French Open encounter on Saturday.

The former Grand Slam champion is scheduled to meet No. 1 Andy Murray in a highly-anticipated third-round meeting, but he picked up a groin injury in the second round.

The pair split their two meetings in 2016, with Murray taking a four-set win in the gold-medal match at the Olympics and Del Potro winning a five-setter in the Davis Cup semifinals.

The Argentine said their third-round meeting could be another gripping encounter "if I feel good."

"And now I know his game a lot,” Del Potro said, “but I need to be in good shape and physically be stronger to hold a long match if we play a long match, long rallies. Andy is one of the favorites to win this tournament."

Del Potro has played a limited schedule since returning in 2016 from three wrist procedures.

Murray, who has had just a handful of wins during the clay season, is wary.

"It will be very tough,” Murray said. “Juan Martin is playing better than his ranking. He's, in my opinion, one of the best players in the world when he's fit and healthy."
