Casey Dellacqua, on the comeback trail after shoulder surgery, has won Tennis Australia's women's wildcard playoffs by defeating Olivia Rogowska 1-6, 7-6(9), 6-3. The former top 40 player was one game away from defeat at 5-2 down in the second set before prevailing.

"I thought, ‘I’m not going to stay out this long to lose,’" said Dellacqua, who captivated the country with a surprise run to the fourth round in 2008. “I’m just so excited to know that I’ve earned my spot back in the Australian Open – with such great memories here, it’s just exciting to be back playing here."
