Taylor Dent has defeated James Blake 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 in the first round of Atlanta.

Hometown players Robby Ginepri and Donald Young also won their opening matches. "I could hear them cheering for me," Ginepri said of the crowd. "I kind of recognized their voices and the different way they kind of cheer for you than normal."
