Djokovic feels he's playing his best tennis in over a year right now

Novak Djokovic says he is playing his best tennis in more than a year, as he showed while reaching the final of Queen's.

Though Djokovic fell in three sets against Marin Cilic in the final, the Serb appears to be competing better and will be more confident going into Wimbledon.

“I’m there. I feel like beating [Grigor] Dimitrov, one of the top players, in straight sets, all straight sets till [against Cilic], I had couple match points to end it up in straight sets, but just the match turned around. He had a great comeback. Third set, again, it was very close. But all in all, I think that the level of my tennis has been as good as it has been [for] 12 months,” Djokovic said. “A Grand Slam takes the best of players. Really motivates you to get to another level, and everybody aims to play their best at this tournament.”

He has three titles at Wimbledon, in 2011, 2014 and 2015, but hasn’t won a major in more than two years. But the former No. 1 was off a long time with an elbow injury and as he says, it takes a while to return.

“But that's our task as people to evolve and especially as athletes at this level, trying to understand what it takes to make that final step,” the Serbian said. “Obviously I don't think I made too many things wrong [against Cilic], even in these big moments, except that double fault on 4-3 in the tiebreak. Other than that, I was in it.”

Djokovic added that at Wimbledon, the 20-time Grand Slam Roger Federer is favored, but there are a couple guys who have a decent chance to win it all.

“It's always very close. I mean, Roger, I think everyone will agree that Roger is the No. 1 favorite,” Djokovic said. “But Cilic is right up there, next to him. Cilic, Nadal, these guys.”
