Justin Rose, who finished second at the Masters golf tournament, says Novak Djokovic inspired him to go gluten-free and it has been a big benefit to his game.
"I have given up gluten, like Djokovic. It worked for him—he is a little whippet," Rose said. "I reckon I have lost eight to 10 pounds, and I feel so much better for it. My joints feel amazing, no soreness, no early morning creaks. It has been amazing. I'm still training and still lifting in the gym."
Rose added that his new weight has not reduced his fitness. The 34-year-old did not say whether he had specifically studied or followed Djokovic's precise diet.
Djokovic, who experienced breathing and stamina problems when he first came on tour, switched to a gluten-free diet and rose to No. 1 in the world in 2011. He credited his new endurance to the dietary change. The Serbian published a book about his diet regime titled, Serve to Win: The 14-day Gluten-free Plan for Physical and Mental Excellence.
