Novak Djokovic is expected to return in Rome after withdrawing from Madrid with a wrist injury, his physiotherapist, Pavel Kolar, told AFP in an interview.
"He should be ready for Rome," said Kolar. "Roland Garros will follow."
Kolar said the injury was the result of an inflamed tendon. "The treatment was last week but we agreed he should resume training gradually," he said.
Djokovic experienced the injury while practicing before Monte Carlo, and exacerbated the problem during a three-set win over Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in the quarterfinals. The Serb withdrew from Madrid after first saying he expected to play the event.
"Madrid was too early," said Kolar. "Especially because he would have to start playing on clay, which is more demanding than other surfaces, you hit more returns and spins, straining the wrist. So we decided he would return in Rome."
