Feliciano Lopez’s off-court attributes have earned him some good-natured ribbing from his fellow players and a strong following with his female fans.

No stranger to modeling—he has quite a portfolio on his website—the 26-year-old from Toledo (Spain, not Ohio) has jumped on the bandwagon and made his acting debut last week on the Spanish soap opera, “Los Serrano.”

"It was a really fun experience," said Lopez of his stint on the show. "Everything is so different from what you see on TV. The actors put me at ease right away and we laughed a lot during the entire shooting session. I was a bit tense at the beginning but it went away really quickly. I'm hoping to get to do this again.
"It was easier than I thought it was going to be. I was amazed at how fast they shoot the different scenes and how much the actors improvise," he told the ATP.

Not even an early morning call to the set could bring down the Spaniard, who admitted that he did not require too much make up as he was still sporting the tan he acquired while playing in the Australian sun.

Fans can catch “Feli,” as he is affectionately known on Tour, on the small screen in March when the episode airs on Spain’s Tele5 channel during its normal prime time lineup. The comedic soap is also broadcast in France and Portugal, reaching nearly 5 million viewers each week.

Lopez now joins Amelie Mauresmo, Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, and Jelena Jankovic as Hollywood hopefuls with a link to the acting bug. (More details)

Next up for the 37th-ranked-Lopez, however, will be a leading role on the court, where he will head the Spanish Davis Cup team in the first round of play when they travel to Peru. He was named to the team after Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer pulled out of the tie with injuries.
