Ernests Gulbis is the 28th-ranked player on the ATP tour, but you wouldn’t know it from what he says in interviews. The laid-back Latvian is known for providing pressroom entertainment and being one of the most quotable pros on tour. All those who appreciate the character that is Ernests Gulbis will enjoy this video of some of his most hilarious on-screen moments:

But the montage also reaffirms that Gulbis doesn’t exactly posses a killer instinct. He admits to practicing rarely and contends that he can barely run. It would appear that the two-time ATP title winner would be just as content flying airplanes—he jokes that he wanted to be a pilot as a kid—as he would winning the U.S. Open.

Gulbis’ demeanor after matches can be frustrating for fans who want to see the 21-year-old take his game to the next level. Unfortunately, the relative lack of desire and grittiness may prevent Gulbis from ever reaching his full potential. But one thing is for sure: He doesn’t take himself or the game too seriously, which is refreshing.
