The Top 10 Female Athletes of All Time list from espnW already includes three tennis pros—Chris Evert, Steffi Graf, and Serena Williams—and it's not done yet. Evert has 18 Grand Slam singles titles, Graf holds 22 Slam singles crowns, and Serena harbors "just" 13 Slam singles trophies but 12 more in Slam doubles action. Speaking to that, her sister Venus Williams also lands on the list, at No. 21. The write-up on Venus includes this precious video clip of her self-fulfilling prophecy:

WTA chief Stacey Allister says of the older Williams sister, "Venus is our modern-day Billie Jean King. She has been a driving force behind the U.S. and global growth of women's tennis. She has given our sport so much." BJK, herself No. 11 on the list, weighs is on Evert, saying, “Mentally tough. Oh my god, she was so consistent. Great with the media, everything you’d want in a superstar, we got.”

The arbitrary No. 1 female athlete of all time will be announced on June 22, the day before Title IX's 40th anniversary. The Spin trusts that the Top 5 includes someone by the name of Martina Navratilova. And says here that Monica Seles is notably missing.

YOUR TURN: What do you think of the list to date, and the tennis players who appear on it? Too high or low?
