Stefan Edberg and Roger Federer have agreed to continue working together for the rest of the year, Edberg has told a Swedish newspaper.
"We have told each other to try to keep the cooperation for the rest of the year," Edberg said in an interview with Expressen.
The coaching arrangement was originally made for 10 weeks through March. Edberg, serving as a consultant alongside Federer's coach and Davis Cup captain Severin Luthi, has attended the Australian Open, Dubai, and Indian Wells, as well as spending a week with the Swiss during Federer's offseason training.
The six-time Grand Slam champion indicated that he may not go to all of Federer's tournaments this season, saying, "We have done the first part and now it will be more flexible."
After struggling with a back injury and poor results last year, Federer concentrated on his training during the offseason as well as bringing on Edberg and switching to a new racquet. He reached the semifinals of the Australian Open, the final of Brisbane, and won the title in Dubai, also collecting four Top 10 wins.
