Mardy Fish has completed a 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (2) victory over Andy Murray at Queen's, sending the third seed and home favorite out of the tournament a day after second seed Novak Djokovic, fourth seed Andy Roddick, and fifth seed Marin Cilic were all ousted.
Fish and Murray were halted Thursday night at 3-3 in the third set for darkness.
Fish successfully appealed to stop play after Murray came from 3-0 down to level at 3-3. The Scot argued with the umpire and supervisor over the decision, saying, "He [Fish] was happy to play at 3-1. The only reason he wanted to stop was because it was 3-3. This is absolutely ridiculous."
When the match resumed, both players held serve easily to eventually force a deciding tiebreak, with Fish winning the last five points to close out the match against a frustrated and error-prone Murray.
"I wasn't annoyed about the light so much as the fact that I wasn't consulted," Murray said after the match. "Today was a bit of a shootout. I played two or three bad points and lost."
