Mardy Fish is not making a full comeback, saying he will play Indian Wells and Miami and then decide his schedule. Fish, who has not played singles since withdrawing from the 2013 Winston-Salem Open, has a protected ranking of No. 25 that he has used for the two hardcourt Masters.
The former Top 10 player stopped playing when he developed an anxiety disorder following heart problems. In an interview with The New York Times, Fish said he was returning to "reaffirm that I can still play the game."
He describes himself as much improved, taking medication and now able to travel by himself. However, he does not see himself playing full-time. "It’s certainly not a full-fledged comeback," Fish said. "I don’t think I can ever do that again."
He is considering playing the US Open, but does not know how many events he will play in betwen.
Fish played qualifing on the golf tour and looked at competing in the US Open doubles a year ago with Andy Roddick, though he two could not enter because the retired Roddickcould not give the required three month's notice. He began his comeback by playing doubles in the Dallas challenger a few weeks ago.
