NEW YORK (AP)—Top American Mardy Fish earned his third consecutive straight-set victory at the U.S. Open, needing a pair of tiebreakers to beat Kevin Anderson and advance to the round of 16.

The eighth-seeded Fish won 6-4, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (3) on Saturday. He had 41 winners and 12 aces.

The 34th-ranked Anderson, from South Africa, beat 29th-seeded Michael Llodra in the second round to match his deepest run at a Grand Slam.
