The former coach for the LSU women’s tennis team has filed a racial discrimination lawsuit against the university, the New Orleans Times-Picayunereports. Tony Minnis, who is said to be the school’s winningest women’s tennis coach, did not have his contract renewed earlier this year after coaching the team for the past 20 years. However, LSU finished 11-13 in 2012, the third consecutive losing season for the Tigers.

According to the lawsuit, Minnis claims white coaches received annual salaries up to more than $30,000 than him, and that there was race-based discrimination in the workplace.
Juila Sell, a former standout player at the University of Florida and a successful assistant coach at Notre Dame, was named the new coach.
