Gael Monfils can win points in spectacular fashion—surely you haven't forgotten his jumping forehand winner in the second round.

He can also lose them like no other, as we saw in his fourth-rounder against Grigor Dimitrov. Up a set and a break, Monfils was broken, and then Dimitrov reached 40-0 on serve. At that point, Monfils had enough, and in an homage to Roberto Duran, said "No Más." Not in Spanish, or in his native French, or even in the local English language, mind you. He effectively threw in the towel by returning serve at the service line.

It was a boiling-hot day in Flushing Meadows, with temperatures in the low 90s and the on-court readings much higher. But the conditions weren't the reason for Monfils' ridiculous return position. He said his strange display was simply frustration after getting broken, and that his reaction was aimed at himself, not anyone else.

"Sometimes when I get frustrated, you know, as I told you, when I don't like," he said. "It's nothing against anyone."

The 28-year-old Frenchman indicated that his peculiar shot following the outburst was apologetic.

"Then I was sorry for Grigor, because I was in front, and he was like, just serve. Because obviously I give you the game, so it's okay. Move it," he said.

Monfils also drank cola during the match, raising it to his box. "Sometime, you know, I just feel like I want a Coke, you know, and I drink a Coke, you know," he said, explaining that he was lightheartedly toasting his team. "My agent, because every time it make him smile, my coach."

Despite all this, Monfils won the match in straights and will play Roger Federer in the quarterfinals. The USTA can't possibly set ticket prices high enough for that one.
