Nicole Gibbs has earned a wild card into the U.S. Open by winning the USTA's wild card challenge for the tournament.
The USTA awards a women's wild card to the player who earns the most points in the $50,000 pro circuit events in Sacramento, Carson and Lexington. Gibbs, who won the Carson event, clinched the wild card when she reached the final of Lexington, putting former U.S. Open quarterfinalist Melanie Oudin in second.
Gibbs earned a U.S Open wild card for the third straight year, with the 21-year-old gaining entry for the previous two years by winning the NCAA championships.
