Washington D.C. native Hailey Baptiste will remember her first WTA main draw win for years to come after enjoying a memorable day at the Citi Open. The 17-year-old wild card delivered the goods at her hometown event on Tuesday, stunning second seed Madison Keys, 7-6 (4), 6-2.

The winner of two ITF World Tour W25 events this season, Baptiste caused the second major upset of the day. Earlier, Rebecca Peterson knocked out No. 1 seed Sloane Stephens in straight sets. Baptiste is the lone American woman to advance Tuesday in D.C. thus far, as six (including Keys) fell in their openers. Fellow 17-year-old Caty McNally later joined Baptiste in the second round with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Lin Zhu.

Baptiste will take on Kristina Mladenovic for a spot in the quarterfinals. Mladenovic eliminated Shelby Rogers, 6-4, 6-4.
