Halle tournament director Ralf Weber says he was surprised by Roger Federer’s pull-out of the grass court Wimbledon warm-up. "The news arrived out of the blue. Yesterday was a shock," he told DPA. "Because of our lifetime contract with him, we expected that the partnership would be satisfied with life."

Federer pulled out with to rest a groin injury after his four-set loss to Rafael Nadal in the final of Roland Garros. Weber said he understood that Federer didn’t want to risk futher injury before Wimbledon, but added that he expects the ATP to fine the Swiss for the late withdrawal.?
