Tim Henman will return to play after an absence of more than three years when he plays in the AEGON Masters event at the Royal Albert Hall in London, November 30 - December 5.
“I’m really looking forward to playing tennis again,” said Henman, who is now a member of the All England Club committee and commentates on Wimbledon for BBC Television.
“From the age of five to the age of 33, tennis was the dominating factor in my life,” Henman added. “For 27 of those years it was my hobby, but I think in the last six months it was becoming my job and I never wanted that to be the case so I really feel like I stopped at the right time…Just to have that continuity of being at home has been incredible.”
Henman’s agent, IMG’s Jan Felgate, is the Chief Executive Officer of the ATP Champions Tour
Henman reiterated that he currently has no interest in succeeding John Lloyd as British Davis Cup captain. “It does appeal but the timing is not right,” he said. “I’m sure that getting involved in the development side is something I’ll look to in the future.”—M.C.
