Martina Hingis, 30, married 24-year-old Frenchman Thibault Hutin in Paris on Friday, reports Schweizer Illustrierte.

"Our marriage may come as a surprise to many, but it was long planned in advance," said Hingis.

The former No. 1 has been engaged twice before, to Swiss lawyer Andres Bieri and to Czech player Radek Stepanek, who is now married to another Czech player, Nicole Vaidisova.

Hingis retired in 2007 after a year and half comeback to the tour.  One of her representatives told Tennis.com that she was approached by several players last year to return to the WTA Tour in doubles, but she declined. She has no plans to return to the tour, but is planning on playing a number of exhibitions and legends events next year. While she is said to enjoy competitive show jumping, she will still play more tennis events in 2011 than participate in horseback-riding events. Her husband is also a competitive horseback rider.—Matthew Cronin
