Martina Hingis picks Novak Djokovic to defeat compatriot Roger Federer in the semifinals of Wimbledon, while Lindsay Davenport thinks Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will take down Andy Murray in the other semi.
"That match at the French Open was so weird," Hingis told TENNIS.com. "Like in the second set Roger had so many chances and after that he was gone. Novak has played so well here and if I had to bet on someone it would be Novak. He's younger and has the confidence against Roger. I don't know why, but at those two U.S. Opens, he has a better chance on slower surfaces than on grass. When Roger beat Novak at the 2011 French he believed, and a few weeks ago at the French, he didn’t believe at all."
Davenport said that some analysts are misinterpreting Murray’s path to the final as the parting of the Red Sea, because his nemesis Rafael Nadal lost early.
"Gee Tsonga's good," she said. "Tsonga can hit through him. Can he execute set after set, who knows. But my pick is Tsonga. On this surface after last year [where the Frenchman upset Federer and reached the semis] he's got the confidence, he serves so well, he's got the big forehand, he's pretty carefree so far. But if Murray won it wouldn’t floor me."
