Iga Swiatek's Indian Wells rampage continues, with just 6 games lost through 3 matches

Putting aside tiebreakers, six victorious games are required to win a set in tennis. Over the course of her first three matches at the BNP Paribas Open, Iga Swiatek has done that six times. Her opponents have combined to do it once.

The statistics are staggering: after dispatching former world No. 4 Caroline Garcia 6-2, 6-0 and dismantling 2024 Australian Open semifinalist Dayana Yastremska 6-0, 6-2, Iga Swiatek destroyed 15th seed Karolina Muchova 6-1, 6-1.

The Pole has won three 14-game matches at Indian Wells with each possible permutation.

"For sure I felt great, even though my routines got different," said the 2022 and 2024 champion after a rain-delayed start on Stadium 1. "I was able to adjust and I'm happy about that.

"I used all my chances and I'm pretty happy that I played with such confidence and could finish it so quickly."

Muchova has reached the semifinals or better in three of her last six Grand Slam tournaments: an incredible 50 percent. Against Swiatek on Tuesday, her points-won percentage was nearly identical: Muchova won 26 points to her opponents' 50.

Swiatek won more break points (5) than struck unforced errors (4).

The 23-year-old's record in Indian Wells main-draw matches is now 21-2.

Zheng Qinwen or Karolina Muchova will attempt to win more than two games against Swiatek in the quarterfinals.
