New Indian Wells CEO Raymond Moore tells the *Desert Sun* that plans for the BNP Paribas Open include the construction of a new 8,000-seat stadium by 2014. Moore, who has been involved with the event for 25 years as a former owner and managing partner, was just named CEO and will continue to be directly involved overseeing the operations of the tennis tournament while reporting to owner Larry Ellison, who is also the CEO of Oracle.
The Desert Sun reported the proposed stadium would be built on the north end of the 16,100-seat main stadium. The current Stadium 2, which is east of the main stadium, and Stadium 3, which is south of the main stadium, will remain. Seating for Stadiums 2 and 3 are temporary bleachers. Moore said designers have come up with two different stadium plans at different cost points. The final plans need to be approved by Ellison and then the city of Indian Wells. There are also plans for a new parking lot, entrance and box office.
