An Indonesian tax official has confessed he paid more than $40,000 to be allowed to walk out of prison to attend the recent WTA’s B-level Championships in Bali. Gayus Tambunan was photographed at sitting in the stands and wearing a wig.

It’s been reported that the middle-ranking tax official, who was receiving a small monthly salary of $1,400, has amassed a $3.2 million fortune.

''To put an end to this polemic, I admit that the man in Bali was me,'' he said Monday in court. ''I have been so stressed since being detained, and I thought I would take a little vacation because I also saw that several other high-profile detainees were allowed to leave.''—Matthew Cronin
