Meanwhile, reports out of Serbia say that Novak Djokovic and his wife, Jelena, are expecting a girl. Jelena recently confirmed on social media that she is pregnant—backing up Serbian tabloid accounts from a few months ago— and posted recent photos.
The couple has not publicly said whether it is a boy or girl.
The two players will join recent tour fathers Taylor Fritz, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Jurgen Melzer, Marcus Willis and Nicolas Almagro, along with former WTA No. 1 Victoria Azarenka, who had her first child, Leo, in the offseason.
Spain's Almagro, at a pre-tournament press conference in Estoril, called his son his "biggest success," adding that it has affected his approach to his career.
"Of course it changes everything,” he said. “My competitive character is still there, but at my age and with the career I’ve had, after so many years on the circuit, my son is now my priority.”
Andy Roddick, who has a 19-month-old son, says he and his wife, Brooklyn Decker, are also planning to have a bigger family.
"I know my wife,” he told Fox News. “She wants 18 dogs, 72 kids. She would take a whole farm if she could. We definitely want more kids."
The former Grand Slam champion doesn't know if he wants his son to turn into a tennis player.
"Just because I did it and loved it doesn’t mean that he needs to do it,” he said. “I will expose him to tennis as much as I expose him to everything else.”
Fabio Fognini and retired Grand Slam champion Flavia Pennetta are also expecting their first child.
