Ivo Karlovic feels like he has a lot left in the tank

After being eliminated in the third round of the Ecuador Open, 38-year-old Croatian Ivo Karlovic still plans to keep playing as long as he can get into ATP tournaments.

The 6'11” Karlovic was ranked No. 8 in 2008 and got back into the Top 20 two years ago.

These days, the huge server has fallen back and is No. 90, but says he still wants to be on tour for a "long" while.

“Because this is what I like to do,” he told the ATP website. "The career [of a player] is getting longer because everybody is doing a lot more work. Everybody is in the gym and they are trying to do everything they can to have less injuries and to be overall better athletes.

"That's what the difference from now and if you look back in the '80s, '90s, when the players maybe didn't do as much of the all-around work. So that's why the careers has gotten longer and longer.”

Karlovic has been having some injury problems, but enjoys setting age records. The Croatian was the oldest player to reach the third round of a full-size 128-player draw at the Australian Open.

“It means a lot, because it means that even at my old age I can still do good results. That means a lot. I am old, I know. But I don't feel like I'm getting old. As long as my ranking is up where I can be in all the events, I won't consider quitting.”
