Before punishing opponents and trying to keep the peace by asking for a truce between rowdy Serbian and Croatian tennis fans at the Australian Open, Jelena Jankovic found time to hit St. Kilda Beach on Melbourne’s western shore for some fun in the sun.

St. Kilda, home to the Melbourne Yacht Squadron, sits on a bridge-like strip in the western-most part of the city and is very similar in geography to Miami’s Key Biscayne. Although it’s been better known for its shady and rundown past than for its tourist attractions, the beach is experiencing a revival harking back to the glamour days of its “old money” past.

Jankovic enjoyed the Aussie summer by taking a dip in the Indian Ocean before setting sail on jet skis along side the St. Kilda Beach Patrol.

So far the Serbian has enjoyed her time Down Under, progressing through her draw in Melbourne and reaching the final of the Medibank International in Sydney, where she ousted Amelie Mauresmo and Nicole Vaidisova en route, before falling to Kim Clijsters.

She also had a chance to hobnob with some friendly locals while in Sydney, the famed koala bears.
