Jelena Jankovic, who is currently ranked No. 21, says that she wants to return to the top of the game.
The 30-year-old has dealt with a number of injuries this season.
“To come back to [the] top, improve my game and be in good shape. That is the primary goal,” Jankovic told press while playing in the Champions Tennis League. “Injuries were stopping [me] not only physically, but [also] mentally. Every time I had to come back, I had to start from there [scratch]. In the last couple of months, I have been able to get that consistency on a daily basis.”
The Serbian did win three tournaments this season, including Guangzhou and Hong Kong (where she beat Venus Williams and Angelique Kerber), and a $125,000 event in Nanchang.
The former No. 1 reached the final at Indian Wells this year as well as the semifinals of Cincinnati. She also enjoyed a run to the fourth round at Wimbledon, upsetting two-time champion Petra Kvitova on her way.
