Jelena Jankovic has defeated Caroline Wozniacki 6-2, 6-4 to win Indian Wells, the biggest title of her career and the Serb's first since Cincinnati last summer.
"I don't think you can win this tournament and not play well," said Jankovic. "I must have done something right."
Jankovic will rise to No. 8 in the rankings after this performance but the former No. 1 is not focused on getting back to the top spot.
"I'm looking to play some good tennis and really doing the right things out there," she said. "If I'm doing that, I'll be winning big titles and the ranking will come on its own."
