Jelena Jankovic has defeated Ana Ivanovic 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 in an all-Serbian battle in the second round of Madrid.
Jankovic did not hold serve until the fourth game of the second set in an error-filled encounter, but then won nine of 11 games to take command of the match.
Both players had received a first-round bye; Ivanovic as a wild card, Jankovic as the No. 7 seed.
