Julia Goerges reaches Korea Open quarterfinals

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) Julia Goerges of Germany and Spain's Maria-Jose Martinez Sanchez both advanced to the quarterfinals of the Korea Open on Thursday and will meet each other in the next round.

The third-seeded Goerges defeated Eleni Daniilidou of Greece 6-4, 7-5, while the sixth-seeded Martinez beat Kristyna Pliskova of the Czech Republic 7-6 (5), 6-2 at the Olympic Park.

Also, Vera Dushevina of Russia defeated Alexandra Dulgheru of Romania 6-3, 6-1, and Galina Vokoboeva of Kazakhstan beat Iveta Benesova of the Czech Republic 6-4, 6-4.
