Former British No.1 Anne Keothavong announced her retirement after a 12-year career. She will join BT Sport as an analyst. The network signed a contract this year with the WTA to broadcast 21 events.
The 29-year-old Keothavong reached seven WTA semifinals and was the only Brit to reach a WTA semifinal in the 20 years between 1992 and 2012. When Keothavong attained her career-high rank of No. 48 in 2009, she was the first British woman in 16 years to crack the Top 50.
Keothavong, who made 13 straight Wimbledon main-draw appearances, said she has been contending with a nagging heel injury.
"I have given my decision a lot of thought and I believe this is the right time to move on to the next stage of my career," Keothavong said in a statement. "I have had some magical moments along the way. I think I am leaving tennis in excellent shape with both Laura Robson and Heather Watson leading the way for Britain in the women's game.”
