Fellow 18-year-olds and Belgrade wildcards Filip Krajinovic and Marko Djokovic produced contrasting results in their first-round matches. Krajinovic earned his first win at the ATP level, defeating qualifier Evgeny Donskoy 5-7, 7-6(7), 6-1, while Marko Djokovic came close and then faded in a 6-7(5), 7-5, 6-0 loss to Alessio di Mauro.

"Of course I'm disappointed," said the second-youngest of the three Djokovic brothers. "I had my chances and couldn't take them. A win in today's match would have meant a lot: No more qualies at futures and most of all a great match-up against [Stanislas] Wawrinka tomorrow."
