BELGRADE, Serbia(AP) Unheralded Lukasz Kubot upset second-seeded Ivo Karlovic 7-6 (0), 6-2 Saturday to become the first player from Poland to reach an ATP final since 1982.
Top-seeded Novak Djokovic plays fourth-seeded Andreas Seppi in the other semifinal.
Big-serving Karlovic fired 15 aces against Kubot, a 179-ranked lucky loser in the main draw. But the Croat, ranked 21st, had no solution for his opponent's serve and volley game on the slow clay courts.
Kubot dropped to his knees in celebration after the match.
``I'm very happy and will try to do my best in the finals,'' said Kubot, a doubles specialist.
Djokovic's family brought the first ATP event to Serbia this year after buying the license from the former ABM Amro Open in the Netherlands.
