When fans were making their picks for week two at the Australian Open, many might not have chosen Ons Jabeur. Hailing from Tunisia, Jabeur has been making history as one of the best Arab players ever.

"I’m a quarterfinalist for the first time and trying to inspire many generations back home,” she said. “Either in Tunisia or the Arabic world, or especially in Africa.”

While her run has seemingly come out of nowhere, Jabeur has made splashes at majors before, reaching the third round of Roland Garros in 2017 and the US Open in 2019. She will face Sofia Kenin for a spot in the semifinals.
