Learner Tien delivers hilarious interview after late-night upset over Daniil Medvedev at Australian Open

Mutua Madrid Open Match Preview

The 19-year-old and 31-year-old have never played each other, but we can expect this all-American clash to be competitive. Both are near their career-high rankings, and both have had moments of brilliance this season—the world No. 69 and 45 have combined to defeat three Top 5 players.

Tien, the 69th-ranked teen, already appears to relish the spotlight. He'll get more such opportunities, but this fourth match on Stadium 3 will not be one of those marquee moments. Giron, a grinder's grinder, has been in Europe since Monte Carlo, where he defeated Denis Shapovalov before being trounced by Jack Draper. Both lost their main-draw openers in Munich, though Giron's loss came in a third-set tiebreak after three hours. He just couldn't get by Miomir Kecmanovic on that day, but he's built for battle on clay.

Tien provides some good value in the betting market (see below), but Giron's experience and form should see him through. Winner: Giron—Ed McGrogan
