The three-week grass court swing is officially underway, with players slipping and sliding all over the lush, green surface. In Halle, Andrey Rublev will take on hometown favorite and 2011 champion Philipp Kohlschreiber. The Russian will hope for a better performance than his 6-3, 6-1 defeat at the 2017 Hamburg Open—their only previous meeting.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Rublev is listed as a -380 favorite and projected to win by 3.5 games. It’s nice to see an attackable game spread for Rublev, who, due to his dominance over the last year and a half, has been tough to bet because of his supreme form.

This will be Rublev’s 10th ATP match on grass, compared to 98 for Kohlschreiber, but what the Russian lacks in experience, he should make up for in firepower.

When players reach a certain age, there are some days when their legs just don’t have it. This makes Rublev an intriguing pick on Friday. I don’t think Kohlschreiber will be quick enough to hang with Rublev in baseline rallies, and there’s nothing to suggest that—besides a lack of match play—Rublev’s game won’t eventually translate extremely well to grass.

At Queen's Club in London, we have a highly-anticipated all-British matchup between rising star Jack Draper and world No. 41 Cameron Norrie. Draper, who upset Jannik Sinner and Alexander Bublik in his first two rounds, attended this tournament as a child, making it a fitting venue for his first career ATP quarterfinal.

Draper and Norrie know each other well, and the 19-year-old actually defeated the 25-year-old at the Battle of the Brits exhibition last December. But that was a relatively meaningless practice match for Norrie, who will not go down so easily on Friday.

Draper is a skilled grass-court player and an exceptional talent, but Norrie is in the midst of the best season of his life, and knows he likely won't have a more winnable ATP quarterfinal for quite some time. Perhaps Draper has another big upset in him, but look for Norrie's big-stage experience to pay major dividends on Friday.
