ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) Michael Llodra of France has defeated Nikolay Davydenko of Russia in straight sets on the opening day of the ABN Amro World Tennis Tournament.

Llodra, the 2008 champion, won 6-3, 7-6 (4) on Monday. He won Davydenko's first service game for the only break of the match and then saved two break points to win the first set.

The 22nd-ranked Llodra couldn't break Davydenko again in the second, when the Russian saved four break points to take the set to a tiebreaker, which the Frenchman won.

In Monday's other first-round matches, Marin Cilic of Croatia overcame German qualifier Mischa Zverev 6-2, 6-4, while Viktor Troicki defeated Dutch wild card Thomas Schoorel, also in straight sets.
