Fernando Verdasco's 6-7, 7-6, 7-5 loss to Gael Monfils and Andy Roddick's 6-3, 7-6 win against Ernests Gulbis in the third round of Paris means that the field for the ATP World Tour finals in London is settled.
Tomas Berdych, Roddick and David Ferrer have qualified for the final three spots, joining Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Robin Soderling.
Verdasco and Jurgen Melzer were the only two other contenders heading into Thursday. Verdasco will be the first player into the London field if someone withdraws unless Melzer reaches the Paris final.
Melzer entered the week with a chance of qualifying if he won in Paris, but Roddick's victory on Thursday meant he is now too far ahead to be caught even if Melzer wins the title.
