LONDON (AP) Feliciano Lopez of Spain beat Dmitry Tursunov of Russia 7-6 (4), 6-3 in the first round of the Queen's Club tournament on Monday.
Lopez stunned Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals here last year, and again showed good grass-court form by hitting 18 aces and losing serve just once.
Lopez next faces four-time champion Andy Roddick, who had a bye into the second round.
Tenth-seeded Frenchman Michael Llodra also advanced with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Jaroslav Pospisil of the Czech Republic, and Nicolas Mahut of France earned a 6-3, 6-4 win over British wild card Oliver Golding.
Germany's Michael Berrer beat American teenager Ryan Harrison 7-6 (7), 2-6, 7-5.
